What is Style?

In my opinion, style is a form of self-expression. Attire is perhaps the most common form of style: you dress to express yourself, to impress others with your fashion savvy, and to reflect your personality. Style also applies to the presentation or "type" of most anything you can think of. It can be expressed in most everything one does and reflects one's personality and uniqueness.

In regards to this class, there are different styles of writing and literary expression. Writing style ranges from person to person. It can be flowing and poetic, concise, wordy, persuasive, etc. Different styles also have different effects on readers. Poetry is typically more moving than a concise news article, which gets straight to the point and where the intent is to inform.

It is the style of the writer or dresser or artist that defines them and distinguishes them from others.
